From 2 to 4 June 2004, at the invitation of President of the Norwegian Parliament Jørgen Kosmo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Wu Bangguo paid an official visit to Norway.

During the visit, Mr. Wu met with the king of Norway, His Majesty King Harald V, had talks and meetings with President Kosmo, Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik and Foreign Minister Jan Petersen. Besides Oslo, the capital of Norway, Mr. Wu visited Bergen as well. Mr. Wu witnessed the signing ceremony of two bilateral agreements: an extension of the Sino-Norwegian Agreement on Cultural Cooperation and an Agreement on Tourism.
