H.E. Ambassador Tang Guoqiang Presents the Credentials to H.M. King Harald V

H.E. Mr. Tang Guoqiang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Norway presented the credentials to His Majesty King Harald V on 17 September, 2009. At the beginning of the friendly talk, Ambassador Tang conveyed the best regards from President Hu Jintao to His Majesty.

H.M. King Harald V welcomed Ambassador Tang's assumption of duty in Norway and was glad to see the positive development of the bilateral relations in recent years. His Majesty believes that the relations between the two countries will further develop by concerted efforts made by both sides. His Majesty also recalled the good times he enjoyed while attending the Beijing Olympic Games last year, and said the achievements China had made since the reform and opening up in 1978 impressed him deeply.

Ambassador Tang said that he was honored to assume the duty on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Norway. Now the bilateral relations between China and Norway is developing steadily and the cooperation in various fields has been promoted with sound progress. The mutual understanding and the friendship between the two peoples have been deepened. Ambassador Tang noted that China attached great importance to the development of the friendly relations and cooperation with Norway, and he would like to promote future exchanges and cooperation at all levels. Ambassador Tang also extended his gratitude to His Majesty for his efforts made in promoting bilateral relations, and welcomed the Royal family to the Shanghai World Expo next year.

After presenting the credentials, the Ambassador and Mrs. Tang Guoqiang hosted a reception in their residence. The representatives of the Royal family, officials from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the foreign ambassadors to Norway attended the reception. 

Ambassador Tang Guoqiang arrived in Norway on 12 September, 2009.
