Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Quan Meets with Foreign Editor of Norway's Aftenposten

On March 20, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Quan met in the office building of the Foreign Ministry with visiting foreign editor of Norway's daily newspaper Aftenposten Nils Udgaard.

When talking about Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's upcoming visit to China, Kong made positive comments on bilateral ties and pointed out that the two countries have conducted frequent exchanges at multiple levels in recent years and carried out fruitful cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, culture and education. China attaches importance to developing ties with Norway and is ready to strengthen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Norway in all fields, he said.

Kong also briefed on China's Africa policy, China-Japan ties, China's participation in the UN peacekeeping operations, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as China's views on the EU integration process, the security situation in Iraq and other issues.

Established in 1860, Aftenposten is the most influential newspaper in Norway.
