On April 9th, 2024, Ambassador Hou Yue visited the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), headquartered in Trondheim, and met with the Managing Director, Ms. Norunn Sæther Myklebust, among others.

Ms. Myklebust warmly welcomed Ambassador Hou's visit, and said that China is an important participant and contributor to the global green transition. It has formulated an ambitious carbon emission reduction plan, and actively promoted green and sustainable development. China and Norway have maintained close exchanges in ecological and environmental restoration and protection, and have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation. The Norwegian side is willing to continue to increase exchanges and cooperation with China and jointly contribute to the global green transition and sustainable development.

Ambassador Hou said that climate change is the most prominent global challenge. As the world's largest developing country, China is committed to the pursuit of green and low-carbon development featuring the harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. It has pledged to reach carbon emissions peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, which fully demonstrates China's strong sense of responsibility as a major country. Although the national conditions of the two countries are different, China and Norway are doing their best to contribute to addressing the global climate crisis, and there is huge potential for green cooperation. Norwegians from all sectors are warmly welcome to visit China, experience by themselves the huge achievement of the green development, and together explore more cooperation opportunities.

Ambassador Hou visited the city of Trondheim from April 7th to 9th, during which she also visited institutions such as the Renergy cluster, and held discussions with local overseas Chinese scholars and international students.
