On July 29th, Senior Colonel Hu Jihui, the Military, Naval and Air Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, hosted a reception at the Embassy for the 83rd anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Senior officers of the Norwegian MOD, the Defence Attachés to Norway, the Chinese Ambassador Tang Guoqiang with spouse and other diplomats from the Embassy attended the occasion.

In his toast, Senior Colonel Hu introduced China’s military strategy of active defence, the PLA progress in its modernization and its efforts in maintaining the regional and the world peace. He pointed out that the ties between the armed forces of China and Norway have been strengthened in recent years, the friendship and mutual trust between the two sides deepened. The military leaders from the two countries paid frequent visits to each other. And the two militaries were also involved in the pragmatic cooperation, such as academic exchanges in the UN peacekeeping operations.

Major General Amundsen from the Norwegian MOD made response on behalf of the Norwegian Armed Forces. He congratulated on the PLA anniversary and hoped that the bilateral military cooperation would be further increased and exchanges between the two sides expanded.
