At prize giving ceremony on April 25, 2010, Ambassador Tang Guoqiang met with Chinese young violinists who came to Oslo to participate in the Menuhin Competition 2010 hosted by Norway. Ambassador Tang encouraged these young talents to make continuous efforts for greater success.
Altogether five Chinese contestants joined the competition in the senior section, and finally 21 year-old Yu Xiang from China won the jury's heart with his brilliant performance and got the first prize.
Menuhin Competition, founded by the world famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin, is the world's leading international competition for young violinists under the age of 22. The competition is held every two years and has a history of 27 years. The next Menuhin competition will be held in Beijing by the Central Conservatory of Music in 2012, and it will be the first competition held outside Europe.
