2010/04/22

On April 21, 2010, the Chinese Embassy in Norway flew the national flag at half-mast to mourn for the victims of the earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai Province, which took place on April, 14.

In the morning, Ambassador Tang Guoqiang and all the other staff in the Embassy paid three-munite silent tribute to the earthquake victims under the banner of "Mourn the Qinghai Quake Victims with Deep Grief".

Ambassador Tang said that all the staff in the Embassy were deeply concerned about the people in the quake affected area and had donated generously to support the relief work. The Norwegian government had also donated 2 million kroner to China's relief work. We firmly believe that under the strong leadership of CPC and State Council and with the support of all the Chinese people, the people in the quake striken area would overcome all the difficulties and build a new home. Ambassador Tang hoped that all the staff in the Embassy would convert the sorrow into strength and handle the foreign issues related to the relief work more actively.

The representative of the staff in the Embassy said that though the quake striken area was far away, the hearts of all the staff in the Embassy are with the people there. In time of such a crisis caused by earthquake, all the staff in the Embassy would work harder with great sense of responsibility and diligence.
