Ambassador Tang Guoqiang Paid a Visit to COSL DRILLING EUROPE
2010/04/20

On April 8, 2010, Ambassador Tang Guoqiang went to Stavanger and paid a visit to COSL DRILLING EUROPE (CDE). The company had made initial progress after experiencing the internal adjustment since the acquisition by COSL in the latter part of 2008. It is expected that the business will expand further by leasing platforms and providing service to living quarters on off-shore platforms.

Ambassador Tang said that COSL's acquisition of Awilco was an important step in China's strategy of "going global", and it was also one of the biggest acquisition project made by China in Europe in terms of capitals. CDE, at its initial management, came across some problems. However, the company has already made progress by overcoming difficulties, thus laying a solid foundation for its further growth. CDE's experiences in management will be a good example for other Chinese enterprises overseas. The Chinese Embassy would continue to support the development of the company in Norway and provide necessary assistance and help so as to promote further the economic and trade relations between China and Norway.

During his visit to Stavanger, Ambassador Tang also paid a courtesy call to Mayor Sevland of Stavanger, met the local Chinese community, and accepted an interview by the local media.
