China’s President Mr. Hu Jintao’s congratulations to His Majesty King Harald V of Norway
His Majesty King Harald V
The Kingdom of Norway
OSLO
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Norway, I wish to extend, on behalf of the Chinese Government and people, and in my own name, our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Your Majesty and, through you, to the Government and friendly people of Norway.
In the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, Sino-Norwegian relations have witnessed a stable development. The two countries have built up increasingly closer contacts at all levels, and deepened mutual understanding and trust. Remarkable results have also been achieved in exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as economics and trade, science and technology, and culture. Under the present circumstances, to expand and deepen the Sino-Norwegian cooperation accords with the interests of both sides, and will benefit international peace and development. I would make joint efforts with Your Majesty, to further promote and deepen the Sino-Norwegian relations in an all-round way.
May the Sino-Norwegian friendly cooperative relations achieve more fruitful results.
Hu Jintao
President of the People’s Republic of China
Beijing, 5 October, 2004
His Majesty King Harald V’s congratulations to China’s President Mr. Hu Jintao
22 September 2004
Your Excellency,
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Norway, I wish to extend my congratulations and good wishes to you, your government and your people.
Norway was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. The friendship and co-operation between Norway and China are based on mutual respect and shared interests. Today there is contact between an impressive range of individuals and institutions in almost every sector of our two societies.
I am confident that the bilateral relations between our two countries will continue to expand and grow stronger in the years ahead.
