2004年10月5日，中华人民共和国与挪威王国将迎来建交50周年纪念日。为庆祝两国建交50周年，中国国家主席胡锦涛与挪威王国国王哈拉尔五世互致贺电，内容如下：

哈拉尔五世国王陛下：
值此中华人民共和国和挪威王国建交50周年之际，我谨代表中国政府和人民并以我个人名义向陛下，并通过陛下向贵国政府和友好的挪威人民致以热烈祝贺和良好祝愿。
中挪建交50年来，两国关系稳步发展，双方各级别往来日益密切，相互了解和信任不断加深，在经贸、科技、文化等领域的交流与合作取得显著成果。在新的形势下，进一步扩大和深化中挪两国的互利合作符合双方的共同利益，也有利于世界的和平与发展。我愿与陛下共同努力，进一步推动中挪关系全面深入发展。
祝中挪友好合作关系取得更加丰硕的成果。

Your Excellency,
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Kingdom of Norway, I wish to extend my congratulations and good wishes to you, your government and your people.
Norway was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. The friendship and co-operation between Norway and China are based on mutual respect and shared interests. Today there is contact between an impressive range of individuals and institutions in almost every sector of our two societies.
I am confident that the bilateral relations between our two countries will continue to expand and grow stronger in the years ahead.
