Dear Foreign Minister,

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Norway and the People’s Republic of China, I wish to extend, on behalf of the Norwegian government, my congratulations to you and the government of the People’s Republic of China.

The friendship and co-operation between Norway and China are based on mutual respect and shared interests. This has led to dialogue in such wide-ranging fields as international politics, the environment and sustainable development, culture, sport, shipping, fisheries, education and research, health and business. It has also made it possible for us to engage in a structured and fruitful dialogue on human rights and the rule of law for over nine years. And it has laid the foundation for our steadily expanding co-operation.

I am confident that the friendship and co-operation between our two countries will continue to grow and deepen in the years ahead.
